Chongqing

Chongqing is one of China’s four municipalities directly under the central government. Located in the southwest at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers, it is known as the “Mountain City” and “Fog City” due to its hilly terrain and frequent fog.

The landscape is undulating, with rivers crisscrossing the city, numerous bridges, and dazzling night views. With a long history, it once served as the wartime provisional capital during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and is now an important economic center and transportation hub in western China.

Chongqing is famous nationwide for its hot pot; its cuisine is numbing-spicy and fragrant, with distinctive Jianghu-style dishes.
